Progress has been slow as we’ve been waiting for appliances and countertops to arrive. But with all the major purchases that have been made recently it seems like a good idea to allow the slow progress to mean a short reprieve for our wallet. As of right now we are waiting on countertops, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and flooring. And we already have our stovetop and kitchen sink waiting patiently for the countertops to be installed.
Since the last update I was able to get the hardware installed on the lower cabinets, and Husband got the island cabinets installed so we could place our order for countertops!
Husband also installed the heat pump a couple weeks back! Thank goodness for that, since the next weekend we had our first freeze. Which killed off all my dahlias :(! I knew it was coming, so the evening before I raced home from work and harvested the last of all my flowers and hung them from the loft railing to dry.
This week our upper cabinets arrived, and next week our oven and wall mount microwave should arrive. Then our flooring will arrive (which we won’t be laying out until after we install the bathtub in the main floor bathroom), and then our countertops will arrive!! The Monday before Thanksgiving no less. I am so hoping they are installed on time, as I would absolutely love being able to break in our new kitchen on Thanksgiving weekend! How incredibly perfect would that be?! Though I suppose even if they’re late, I’ll still be immensely grateful. And finally, the first week of December our dishwasher is due to arrive!
We’ve still got a very long way to go, but having a kitchen (in a month) feels so incredibly gratifying – even if it will be unfinished and backsplash-less for a time. I’m really hoping I can twist Husband’s arm into getting flooring put down before we put the Christmas tree up 🙂 wish me luck!
