Maybe this isn’t such a great idea, but I’m counting down the weekends until June 1st (our current -fingers crossed- move in date). Maybe it’ll put too much pressure on us. Maybe it’ll just be another let down when summer comes and we’re nowhere near where we hoped we would be. Or maybe it’ll keep us focused and give us a goal and we’ll be popping champagne bottles on June 1st. Time will tell! This weekend was sewer line weekend. We needed to move the septic system control box from it’s post in the middle of the yard to the Cabin so we can not stare at it all the time (guess who made that a priority…this girl!). It was another ditch that needed digging and quite the frustrating wiring job as well.
We still have to have a little junction box where the wires are connected in case anything happens with the wiring, but it’s something we will be able to mow over instead of weed-eating around it and having to stare at it all the time. The other major project on this weekend’s to do list was the sewer line. I don’t know if you’ve ever done any plumbing, but holy cow you basically have to bring the whole store home in order to be sure you’ve got everything you need. Regardless of how many lists you’ve made, double checked, mapped, and triple checked. We made two trips to Home Depot yesterday and still ended up having to stop because we’re missing three more pieces. When you live way out in the boonies, a 35 minute trip to Home Depot means you don’t really have time for three trips!!
That being said, we were able to get the line into the Cabin (last weekend – Husband is a CHAMPION), over to the kitchen sink – which will be in the island along with the dishwasher, to the shower/tub, a line that will go out to where the washer/dryer addition will eventually live, the toilet, the bathroom sink, and into the corner where the sewer line will go up to the upstairs bathroom. We need a couple more pieces to finish the toilet line placement and the bathroom sink line placement, and then we’ll need to glue it all together and hang it at the proper grade, but we’re oh so close! Husband is convinced he will have that all done before next weekend starts. I’ll let you know how that goes 🙂
In addition to it being twelve weekends until move in date, it was our twelve(/three) years together anniversary on Leap Day. My how time flies. Maybe by our 16th(/4th) anniversary we’ll be settled into life on the Homestead. Or maybe we’ll just be battling the next project on our list. Whatever the case, at least we won’t be living in the RV!!

It gives me joy to read about your life and progress ♥️
