Snow

I love snow. I love how quiet it makes the world. And how it makes everything so beautiful and soft. And that it feels like the holidays. And that it’s terrifying to travel in so that even a trip to the grocery store feels like an adventure. We actually got snowed in for a week last year. I totally loved it. For like, four days. Tops. Then I got “cabin fever”. This year when a snowstorm blew in, I was very careful to park my car down at the bottom of the driveway so I wouldn’t be stuck home if I didn’t want to be.

The first few days of snow, it was extremely windy and near single digit (F) temperatures. The birds loved it! Just kidding. The chickens wouldn’t leave their coop, and the ducks were even more miserable without a heat lamp of their own. Maverick however, now he loved! He wanted anyone to be outside just so he could enjoy the snow with a friend nearby.

And then it snowed on a still day.

It was coming down so hard around 2pm that it looked like the sun must already be going down. It was amazing. I had to go outside and be in it, even though it was terrible cold! It was worth experiencing. Then around 4pm it stopped, and miraculously, the clouds broke for sunset. The result was phenomenal a view.

I love where we live.
