This week I have a ton of flower pictures to share again; May is gorgeous around here. But we also did quite a bit of work, that doesn’t look like a ton of work. We got the chicken run all fenced in – including some fishing net over the top to discourage the eagles.
We also worked on the Cabin lift project. We drilled a boat load of holes through the beams, and my husband cut just as much all-thread to put through the holes. Then we leveled and shimmed the beams and tightened them into place. Our jacks are arriving this week and we are trying to get the Cabin all prepped for a slight lift so that we can remove the bad logs on the East wall and replace them with a stick built wall. It went a lot slower than planned and anticipated. However, we’ve got 2 out of 3 walls totally prepped, and the last 1 is nearly half way there! I neglected to take images of the most recent progress, but this gives you a pretty good idea.
More importantly, my MIL (mother-in-law) started to work on the garden! My FIL (father-in-law) has been working like crazy to get the garden (and the chickens) all fenced in and ready for planting. This weekend the progress was phenomenal! They picked up some blueberry plants – which got planted outside the fence – and my MIL got 4 half rows formed up, planted and watered! It looks so awesome!!
Last week I also planted the two Christmas trees my in-laws got this year. I planted them down in front of the barn, one on each side of the driveway so that they might grow up to make a cool gateway into the property. I’m pretty excited to watch them grow! Hopefully the one on the right will conceal that power box from sight a little bit.
My in-laws also went to the Everson Plant Sale and picked up a couple of plants for me! I planted them down in front of the Cabin for now (they might get moved later). I ended up purchasing a few packets of seeds as well for some flowers that I can cut and put in vases inside for fun. So I got to do some planting this week as well!
Okay. So here’s the part of the post where I basically spam you with all the blooms that are happening at the Homestead. Because apparently I can’t help myself. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do 🙂

I am currently in Prague and was delighted to get this post. Amazing how much has been accomplished. Your flowers are beautiful. Love seeing the progress.
