Guess what!! This past weekend Husband installed our oven and our microwave! I could not be happier or more excited. We still need our dishwasher (still waiting on delivery delays); to finish up the cabinets around the microwave now that it’s installed, and backsplash and trim, and blah blah blah, but the kitchen is now fully functional!! And it looks incredible. The first thing I did in the oven was bake some chocolate chip cookies. And then I made another batch and cooked half of the cookies in each oven. Just because I could!
We also finally finished taping, mudding, and sanding the weekend before, it was an incredibly messy project. The worst part is that it’s messy, and then you clean up, and it’s just as messy the second and third (and fourth) time; but you can’t just not clean up between if you’re living in the space! We did, however, get smarter about moving and covering things to make the clean up easier each time.
I was then able to prime AND paint all of the finished drywall on Tuesday before my evening work shift. Good lord is this place really becoming something beautiful.
So this weekend Husband was also able to start trimming out the living room window and the front door. We still have a major amount of trim to complete, but this week our bathtub arrives!! So we will be moving on to the bathroom very shortly, yay for showering in the same building we sleep in!!
Honestly, we couldn’t be happier with how our home is progressing. I keep looking forward to the next thing being done, but at this point, when I walk into our home I am so incredibly happy – and grateful for all the work we (and our family+friends) have invested over the past two years. I still see all the things that need to be done, but now I can enjoy the spaces we have created by cooking and relaxing. Showering is really the last big necessity. Then we’ll probably wait to start the addition for the laundry room until it’s nicer weather at the very least.
ALSO!! We got SNOW for Christmas!! Well okay, maybe it was for Winter Solstice, but it was close enough to Christmas to feel incredibly festive! I just adore the snow and the way it changes the landscape and the entire atmosphere around everyone’s moods, a lot of people were really excited about it this year (which just increases my excitement about it!).
Hoping everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Cheers to 2021 going better than the last! (Though despite COVID’s efforts, it’s really been a lovely year for our family).
