It has been absolutely insane the past month and a half. I got a new job in the profession I’ve been in school for for nearly two years now, I started my final quarter of said school, and I have still been *attempting* to help Husband make progress on the Cabin. Though I think a lot of times I’ve been more of a burden than a help due to my overpacked schedule (and correspondingly overpacked brain!).
Apparently we’re only one weekend away from the move in date! I can’t believe 3 months went by this quickly. I also can’t believe it’s almost Summer (FINALLY), I’m almost out of school (FINNALLLLYYY), and we’re almost out of the RV (OMMMGGG FINNALLLYYY!!). Whether or not we’ll be moved in by June 1st is still a little bit up in the air. I don’t want to get my hopes dashed so I’m trying to be relaxed about it.
Over the past few weeks (that I’ve neglected to post about), we have gotten quite a few things done! We started insulation and drywall – though we still have quite a ways to go with this project!!
We had a lot of little things that we had to tie up before we could actually insulate and drywall. So the project itself took a lot longer than anticipated because we kept running into loose ends that needed finishing. Oops! It was bound to happen at some point though :). One of those loose ends led to us getting our hot water heater in and wired. We opted to keep it out of the wall and will be putting a cabinet around it so that we can still remove the cover and work on it if any issues arise.
We got the whole loft insulated and drywalled! It took a bit of tedious work, and we will still have to put trim around where the drywall meets the logs, but it is really starting to look like a livable space now! This weekend we finally got to the chinking on the interior logs of the loft, and we were able to get the first layer of mud and tape on the drywall in the loft!
We clearly have loads more work ahead of us this week and weekend, but fortunately, we also have more time available to us! Husband has been able to leave work early last week and will be doing so again this week, and I am just working two days this week (instead of six!). We still need to do two more layers of mud on the drywall joints, paint, put down flooring, trim the walls, board and trim the ceiling, trim the floor, and then install the bathroom fixtures. Which, if I’m doing my math right, is about 8 full days worth of work. Wish us luck! But if we don’t make it into the Cabin until a week or two late, just don’t judge us on our inability to fulfill the proposed deadline π

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!
Job – School and the homestead. Nice workπ
