Eleven

Eleven work weekends until the move in deadline! Last weekend we (mostly Husband and our buddy A) got ALL our sub-floor water lines in! We also finished the plumbing – got it all glued together and hung at the proper grade.

We started with finishing up the plumbing and honestly it didn’t take as long as I was thinking it might. We were nearly done by the time I had to leave for clinic! When we hung it we put in measured wood shims between the pipe and the floor joists so we knew it was straight and to the proper grade and wouldn’t move at all.

We got hot and cold water to the kitchen sink, a line for the fridge, lines for the downstairs bathroom, hot and cold to go upstairs, and even a line to go out to the temporary addition we’ll be building for the washer and dryer! It didn’t even take the whole weekend, so we got to fit in a mountain bike ride and celebrate daylight savings!

On a sadder/happier note, my quarter got cut short due to the corona virus. While I’m really bummed to have missed out on 5 more shifts at the site I was really enjoying, I also gained a couple extra weeks of property time!! Wednesday was my first day off and boy oh boy did I go garden crazy 🙂

I made this new garden bed (which I’m fairly certain is an old garden bed)! In Fall of 2018 when we bought the property this area was overgrown by blackberries and tall grass. I cut that all back and found the rhododendron as well as a couple of peonies. None of them were doing very well last year, but hopefully this year they’ll recover!!

I also got most of my plants into dirt, but it’s supposed to get down to mid-twenties again this weekend :(, so I opted to be safe and keep them in the garden shed until it warms back up. I’m also working on building a little pallet shed. Guess who the next addition to the homestead is :)!!

This weekend we will be working on all the sub-floor electrical. Then we will prep for the sub-flooring the weekend after, and hopefully in two weeks we’ll have a (sub)floor to walk on!!
