Weekend Nine

(Fair warning: it was a slow weekend in terms of work done and progress made on the Cabin)

This weekend we didn’t do a whole lot of work to the Cabin. Really, we spent a little time cleaning up the piles from the previous weekends and ended up spending more time mountain biking (and there was fair amount of studying for me!). We had a huge pile of wood that wasn’t in very good shape that we chose to burn. We had 3 different piles of wood that were deemed either: save & move to the barn, save & cut up into firewood for the wood stove, or pull nails & save. We also finally got the dumpster removed on Monday and contacted a local log home restoration company to get some quotes and expertise!

All in all, this work really only took up about a half of a day – though we didn’t do the nail pulling pile! I had finals coming this week that I had to study for, we had a friend’s birthday on Sunday, and my husband’s birthday was on Tuesday – suffice to say we weren’t as focused on the progress of the Cabin! It was good to get caught up on the straggling bits and pieces of previous projects, and get all organized for our next projects. We may be at a bit of a stand still until we know how to proceed with the problem logs on the Cabin, but there’s always plenty to do around the Homestead to keep us busy!!

Last week we had more snow, and this week we nearly reached 80 degrees if the outdoor (shaded) thermometer is to be trusted!! It’s Wednesday today, and though I am late in getting my posts up, I just finished second quarter and am looking forward to a little break from school and have been thoroughly enjoying the much needed sunshine. I’m hoping we’re in for a beautiful Spring! Which by the way – today is officially the first day of Spring!! Hooray!! The chicks are growing steadily and really get some feathers in now too, they’re so fun to watch!
